Beginner Mountain Bike Skills |
Mountain biking is an interesting sport for anyone who knows how to ride a bike. When compared to average bike, mountain biking is also prone to same accident. It is a good approached to learn mountain biking basic skills before riding you bike.
Try to practice mountain biking beginning skills at your local park, school, bike path, or around your house.
Practice your pedal by moving your foot away from the pedal, while sitting on your bike with one foot on the ground. Next, move on to release and replace your foot while pedaling around a bit. Practice more a little when you are using a toe clip and clipless type foot pedals. Sit and spin position, simply sit on your bike and pedal around. Your arms must be slightly bent. Adjust your seat height so your leg is 70 to 90 percent extended at the bottom and by stroking on the pedal. Your body must be relaxed, and never make a position where you should have either your knees or your elbows locked.
Shifting gears Always get a feel for shifting gears with your bike, the higher gears are harder to pedal and will run faster while the lower gears are easier to pedal and will keep on ascending on hills. As you are in steeper hills, it is best to shift before you get to the hill rather you?re already there.
Coasting Spending a bit of time coasting while you are standing on your pedals, without actually sitting on the seat and keep your arms bent but never lock your knees. Try to experiment with shifting your body towards the rear end of the bike.
Pedal while standing When standing on your bike, you must get to be comfortable when pedaling your bike. Lift yourself off the seat while standing on the pedals, and then crank them around. You should try this in higher gears on a flat ground and in lower gears while on hill.
Dropping down a curb You must find a curb where you can easily get to the upper portion of it. You must practice in a moderate speed, standing and coasting right off the curb from the upper level to the lower level. Try practicing at different speeds until you master it.
When you are practicing the techniques of mountain biking and you can get the hang of them, you'll be able to hit the trails feeling comfortable on your mountain bike. Even how though it is, you?ll get be used to it and mater its basic principle.
